  • What can Functional Medicine do for me?

Alleviation of symptoms is a goal, but the greater goal is trying to determine the root cause of those symptoms. The process starts with a thorough intake to go over your complete history. Functional Medicine recommendations are based on labs which are supported by a biology-based system.

  • How do you discover the root cause?

These five chronic symptoms: digestive problems, fatigue, weight gain, hormone imbalances, and depression are often misunderstood or misdiagnosed when symptoms are what is primarily addressed, and the root cause of the damaged system is overlooked.

The Functional Medicine approach in our office is based on the Kalish Method. We use salivary, urine and sometimes blood labs to identify 3 main system imbalances: neuroendocrine, gastrointestinal, and liver toxicity. Unfortunately, these systems have been compromised long before symptoms have appeared. One of the goals is to determine any problems with the functioning of an organ system before it develops into a disease. Lab test results are the guide to identify the root cause, and determine treatment to rebalance the body.

  • Do you take insurance?

My approach is a whole body approach where I am looking for root cause and focusing on life style changes to help individuals be healthy without a lot of medication. Changing your diet, adding regular exercise and learning strategies to deal with stress are the primary focus. Unfortunately, insurance does not pay for that.

  • How long does it take to get results?

Results vary between each person. Some people feel dramatic improvement within the first month, others may take a bit longer. Our standard programs are for a minimum of 6 months. Remember, your body has been dealing with these issues for a long time. Years of stress and illness take its toll, and it takes a proper amount of time to restore.

It almost goes without saying that results depend on the diligence of each person to follow their daily protocol and to make lifestyle changes. Whole Body Health is committed to assisting and empowering each person to take back their health and experience life changing results if they are committed to doing so as well.

  • I’m afraid of needles, can I still be treated?

Yes, Dr. Stephanie Jordan has been trained is several modalities and there are alternative treatments to Acupuncture for those who do not like needles. For example, many clients have benefited from the healing properties of needle-less treatments such as herbal medicine, acupressure, cupping, gua sha, and more. Please visit our Services page for a complete list of treatments available.

  • How long does a treatment last?

Expect your first appointment to last about 1.5 hours. This includes a full interview regarding your medical and health history.

If you are an acupuncture client, this will include either an acupuncture treatment or a stress reduction experience.

Regular treatments thereafter will take about 45” to 1 hour.

  • Does Acupuncture hurt?

Occasionally a person may feel a pinch, but not usually. Different people have different sensitivities depending on their physical or emotional state. If you are feeling especially sensitive or emotional on the day of your treatment, be sure to let the doctor know.
